In 1995 Blakely and Lloyd began working collaboratively and were commissioned by the History section of the Australian Army to document Australias involvement in the Rwanda crises (publication: The Rwanda Mission, ed Gavin Fry). Prior to this they had worked individually with aid organisations in Somalia, Bosnia, Malawi and also worked on a number of projects within Australia. In 1996 they continued their collaboration and were commissioned by the World Health Organisation (Euro Office) to document sensitive health care issues in the former USSR. This work was exhibited in Copenhagen at the European office of WHO coinciding with an international conference in September 1996. The major body of work produced from this project formed an image bank for the World Health Organisation. In 1997, the photographers undertook a residency in Manila working in cooperation with World Vision, Philippines and the Australian Embassy. In 1999, Angela Blakely received a Visual Arts Grant from Arts Queensland to complete a major project on suicide and grief. In the same year David received a Special Initiative Grant from the Queensland Government to publish Passing Time, a book about hospice and palliative care. The project documents 18 months involvement with Mt Olivet Community Services. At the beginning of 2001 Blakely and Lloyd were awarded a Community Enhancement Grant through the University and began working collaboratively with the Logan Art Gallery, and by extension, the Logan City Council, to complete a (photo) document on the Logan Community. Titled about us the project documents both the rituals engaged in, and spaces inhabited, by this community. In 2002, Blakely/Lloyd began to document substance misuse in the Mount Isa area working closely with local indigenous agencies. They revisited Mount Isa in 2006 to complete the work giving voice to marginalised kids in remote Queensland. In 2004, they won a public art commission with Queensland Health to document notions of wellness for the North West Community Health Centre. In 2006, on an Australian Council Grant, they returned to Rwanda to find and interpret the trace of Australias involvement ten years on.
